About the Forum

The 2026 Forum will mark five years of the Ayrton Fund (2021–2026) — the UK Government’s flagship initiative advancing clean energy transitions in developing countries through strategic investment in the research, development and demonstration (RD&D) of innovative clean energy solutions, with a particular focus on Sub Saharan Africa, South Asia and the Indo Pacific.

The Forum will:

  • Celebrate achievements and share lessons from the Ayrton Fund’s first phase, including its contribution to accelerating progress towards Sustainable Development Goal (SDG)7 (affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all) and SDG13 (climate action);
  • Showcase latest progress in breakthrough clean energy innovations and delivery models emerging from the Ayrton portfolio, connecting technologists, entrepreneurs, financiers, and policy makers
  • Help shape priorities and partnerships for the Fund’s next phase under the UK’s International Climate Finance (ICF) portfolio.

Sessions will be themed across the day, including: electrifying development, green industrialisation, powering inclusive growth, circular energy economies, green grids, and leaving no one behind.

The main Forum will take place on Monday 22 June 2026, followed by a closed door session on Tuesday 23 June 2026 for Ayrton Fund delivery partners and co-funders. Building on insights from the main Forum, the second day will focus on planning for the next phase of the Ayrton Fund, including reviewing lessons from the first phase, discussing emerging priorities, the developing theory of change, and identifying synergies and collaboration opportunities between partners and projects.
